Lost Boys

Lost Boys is one of six video interviews I conducted with Westman veterans and edited for The Brandon Sun’s Knights of D-Day project. This project won an EPPY Award in 2017.

Les Downing volunteered to be in the first wave of soldiers to land on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Luckily, he was held back and arrived in France one week after the pivotal battle — he still thinks of the comrades he lost during the war.

Academic Spotlight on Biology

While at The University of Winnipeg I shot and edited a number of videos to help promote departments on campus. This short video shares some of the research being undertaken by a professor, student and alumna in the Biology Department.

Growing a donation

When Darcy Miller was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014 he didn’t know if he would be able to work on his farm in rural Manitoba again. He is now cancer-free and wants to donate a portion of his crops to Cancer Care Manitoba.

I filmed this story on an ENG camera, edited it in Adobe Premiere and voiced it using ProTools. It was broadcast on RRC TV’s Live at Five  show on April 9, 2015.

Lunch Bell Bistro

Lunch Bell Bistro is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Winnipeg. Staff here train adults with intellectual disabilities the ins and outs of the food service industry. The 20 week program teaches everything from food safety to table service and equips its students with valuable life skills.

Feeding Feral Cats

Winnipeg Animal Control told Carrie Muth she had to stop feeding feral cats living in a shed on her neighbours property. I talked with Muth as well as the manager of Craig Street Cats about the issues feral cats face in the winter. This story appeared on RRC TV’s Live at Five program on January 15, 2015.

Midwifery in Manitoba

Pregnant women in Manitoba often can’t access midwife services because the field is so understaffed. I talked to a mother who was denied midwife care and to a midwife about the issue. This story aired on RRC TV’s Live at Five program on January 29, 2015.
