Objectives
To tell compelling stories and engage with a wide audience using the multimedia skills I have developed as a journalist, communicator and graduate of Red River College’s Creative Communications program.
Qualifications
- Experience writing articles and briefs for print and online news sources, as well as writing news releases, print and radio advertisements, proposals and creative briefs.
- Proficiency with a wide array of social media and web tools including WordPress, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Vine, Snapchat and various social media management apps including Tweetdeck and Buffer.
- Extensive knowledge of Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Creative Cloud, with a focus on Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere and InDesign.
- Experience using DSLR cameras, ENG cameras, external microphones and studio lighting kits.
- Strong grasp of graphic design fundamentals with experience laying out newspaper pages, magazine spreads, brochures, fact sheets, newsletters and web pages.

Multimedia Reporter, Photographer, Copy Editor, Page Assembler & Social Media Manager – The Metro, Canstar Community News (2018-present)
- Finding and writing news, arts, business, feature and sports stories about west Winnipeg on a weekly deadline.
- Creating a balanced weekly editorial schedule and organizing interviews.
- Taking photos to accompany each story and create a compelling front page.
- Copy editing and laying out the paper each week.
- Posting stories and photos to the web using Clickability.
- Sharing weekly stories to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and using social media to find stories and connect with potential interview subjects.
Reporter, Columnist, Photographer, Copy Editor & Page Assembler – The Brandon Sun (2015 – 2016)
- Writing and pitching original stories related to First Nations affairs, healthcare and the arts for Western Manitoba’s largest daily newspaper.
- Covering breaking news and updating web and social media platforms in real time.

- Developing reliable contacts and engaging with the local community online and in person.
- Promoting daily and feature articles on various social media platforms and posting content on The Brandon Sun’s behalf.
- Writing a weekly arts and culture column for The Brandon Sun’s community newspaper.
- Editing video and developing a large-scale multimedia project about local Second World War veterans, titled “Knights of D-Day.” This project won an EPPY Award in 2016.
Digital Media Manager – The University of Winnipeg (2016-2018)
- Scheduling posts, monitoring activity and tracking engagement on UWinnipeg’s Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts.
- Providing live social media coverage of major university events.
- Pitching and writing stories about student, faculty, and staff research.

- Taking photographs and managing the university’s photo archive.
- Shooting and editing campus video features and uploading them to the university’s YouTube channel.
