This is a tourism booklet I created about third-wave coffee shops in Winnipeg using Adobe InDesign. The booklet is meant to be used as a guide for a bike tour that takes the reader from shop to shop. I included a map and information about each stop based on interviews I did with coffee shop owners and baristas. This project was also turned into an article that appeared in The Projector.

In March 2014, myself and a group of other CreComm students launched our fictional publication Boiler Magazine. I’m proud to say that Boiler Magazine received an award for Best Layout and Design from the Manitoba Magazine Publishers Association. This project is the result of three months of writing, interviewing, photographing, designing, promoting, and layout work. All of the pages I’ve included, except for the front cover, are my own creations.

This is the cover for our magazine. It was created by my classmate Jordan Welwood, and I’ve chosen to include it to give some context to the overall look we created and how my pages fit with the theme.

This is a feature article I wrote about the addictive qualities of snack food. I talked to a chef, a dietitian and researched the Bliss Point phenomenon. I also included tips for introducing taste bud science into home cooking.

I teamed up with a local bartender and a chef to create these recipes. The idea was to pair cocktails with classic comfort food.

This is an example of a fictional ad that I created for the magazine. I choose to feature a local men’s clothing store to align with our intended male audience.
